Flexible Timetables in Depth
A Flexible timetable doesn't lock everyone to the same start time — it measures a full shift's worth of hours from whenever the employee actually checks in.
Setting One Up
- Go to Attendance → Timetables → Add Timetable, set Type = Flexible
- Set the allowed check-in window (e.g. 08:00–10:00) — checking in outside this window is flagged as late
- Set the required shift duration (e.g. 8 hours) — the employee's check-out is expected that many hours after their actual check-in
- Configure break minutes if the company uses a fixed or auto-detected break — this is deducted from worked time before it's compared to the required duration
How Late/Overtime Is Calculated
- Late = checked in after the end of the allowed window
- Overtime = worked minutes beyond the required shift duration, still subject to the company's Overtime Threshold and OT Rules under Settings → Payroll
When to Use Flexible vs. General
Use Flexible for roles where the exact start time doesn't matter as long as full hours are worked (e.g. many office/knowledge-work roles). Use General for roles where a specific start time is operationally required (e.g. shop opening, shift handover).
