Split-Shift Timetables in Depth
A Split timetable divides one working day into two or more separate segments — for example a morning block and an evening block with a long unpaid gap between them (common in retail, F&B, and clinics).
Setting One Up
- Go to Attendance → Timetables → Add Timetable, set Type = Split
- Add each segment with its own check-in/check-out window (e.g. Segment 1: 09:00–13:00, Segment 2: 16:00–20:00)
- Set grace minutes and overtime rules per segment if they differ
How It's Calculated
Late/early-leave/overtime is evaluated per segment, then combined into the day's total. This is more accurate than a single General timetable spanning the whole day, which would wrongly count the gap between segments as absence or a very long break.
Common Mistake
Don't use a single General timetable with a huge "break" configured to cover the gap between segments — break minutes are meant for short in-shift breaks (lunch, prayer), not a multi-hour gap between two genuinely separate work periods. Use Split instead for correct late/absent/overtime results on both segments.
