Getting Employees & Punches From an Unregistered Device

Last updated: 9/22/2026

Unregistered Punches

If a device sends a punch for a badge/employee number EasyTime doesn't recognize, it's held in Devices → Unregistered instead of being silently dropped.

Resolving Unregistered Punches

  1. Go to Devices → Unregistered
  2. Each row shows the raw employee number and punch times from the device
  3. Click Link to Employee to match it to an existing employee record, or Create Employee to make a new one from the device data directly
  4. Once linked, the punch (and any future ones from that number) is processed normally into attendance

Why This Happens

  • The employee was enrolled directly on the device before being added in EasyTime
  • An employee's number was changed in EasyTime after they were already enrolled on the device
  • A device was moved from another company/branch with old enrollments still on it

Preventing It

Add the employee in EasyTime first, then enroll their fingerprint/face on the device using the same Employee No. — this way punches match up immediately with no manual linking step needed.
